The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene after two cars collided on the causeway near Alton Road around 8:00 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Officials said one of the drivers fled the scene on foot, abandoning their vehicle at the site of the accident. The other driver involved had to be removed from their car and sustained serious injuries.
